About Alex
Alex Findlay is a dually licensed associate clinical social worker (ASW) and substance use counselor. Throughout his career, Alex has worked with adults and adolescents experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and interpersonal dysfunction. He holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago.

Alex began his clinical journey as an alcohol and drug counselor at a nonprofit agency in Chicago, where he primarily supported under-resourced individuals involved with the criminal justice system. In one of these roles, he successfully launched an intensive outpatient program at a safety net hospital on the Far South Side. During his graduate studies, Alex participated in an intensive dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) training program at Northwestern University.

Alex offers individualized care to help his clients effectively navigate emotional distress and lead more fulfilling lives. He draws heavily from contextual behavioral science, integrating psychodynamic theory, humanistic psychology, and somatic interventions. Alex’s practice is informed by his personal experience with meditation, which began at the Chicago Zen Center when he was an undergraduate.

In his free time, Alex enjoys producing electronic music, watching stand-up comedy, and hiking along the Pacific Coast.
