About Antonio
Dr. Antonio Marotta has been in private practice as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1995. In 1978 he graduated from Manhattan College in New York City. After several years in business, he changed careers and attended the MFT program at San Diego State University. He graduated in 1993 with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. Seeking further education and experience he studied at Texas Tech University and graduated in 2000 with a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Dr. Marotta has been adjunct faculty at MFT master’s level programs here in San Diego, including 18 years at San Diego State University. He retired from SDSU in 2019 and is focused on his private practice. He continues to share his extensive knowledge and experience as a Clinical Supervisor for MFT interns/associates.
Dr. Marotta is informed in his clinical practice by different theoretical frameworks. These include but certainly not limited to Structural and Strategic, Solution Focused and Brief, Bowen Centered therapy models. He incorporates mindfulness and a strength-based philosophies when working with individuals, couples, and families. He has extensive training using John Gottman, David Schnarch and other researched based interventions.
